Dr. Clezio De Nardin is the new director of INPE
Dear members, students, and friends of ALAGE,
We are pleased to announce that recently Dr. Clezio De Nardin has been elected as the new director of Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) after an exhaustive selection process. Currently, Dr. De Nardin is the vice-president of ALAGE, and he is an important and active member of our community.
Dr. Clezio’s Bio: He obtained the degree of electrical engineer in 1996 from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and PhD in Space Geophysics in 2003 by the National Research Institute (INPE), where he now advises doctoral, masters, young scientific. He has published 79 articles in international indexed journals, 40 papers and 2 letters in conference proceedings, and presented his scientific results in 259 scientific meetings, as well as 1 academic article and 13 lectures on scientific outreach. He has obtained 13 scientific awards as an author and work supervisor. He is a reviewer and editor of international scientific journals. Additionally, he was General Manager of the Embrace Program (the Brazilian Studies and Monitoring of Space Weather) between 2012 and 2018, was president of the Brazilian Society of Space Geophysics and Aeronomy (SBGEA) between 2013 and 2016, and the deputy director of the International Space Environment Service (ISES, an international space organization) between 2016 and 2019. He is currently the General Coordinator of Space and Atmospheric Sciences at INPE and vice president of the Latin American Association of Space Geophysics (ALAGE). He is also the brazilian representative at the WMO Inter-Programme Team on Space Weather Information, Systems and Services (IPT-SWeISS), and is a member of the Space Weather Expert Group of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space
We want to congratulate Dr. De Nardin in his appointment as the Director of INPE, since we strongly believe that is an excellent opportunity for ALAGE to show the potential that our association has; and to encourage our young members, and the community in general, to pursue their careers in Space Geophysics.
