Seminar “Carbon Nanotube-Based Radiometers for Earth and Sun Observation”

Heliophysics and Space Geophysics Seminar – J. Lehman, 23 OCT 2020 (FRI), 11:00AM (Sao Paulo time), via BlueJeans

Title: Carbon Nanotube-Based Radiometers for Earth and Sun Observation

When: Oct 23, 2020 11:00 AM Sao Paulo (GMT -3h)

Speaker: John Lehman,
National Institute of Standards and Technology, Boulder, Colorado, USA

Since 2005 we have been pursuing improved thermal detectors based on the advantages of carbon nanotube-based coatings. In collaboration with the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) and with support from NASA we have contributed some unique technology for earth and sun observation on the Cubesat platform. We have achieved absolute radiometers operating in electrical substitution mode, which provides advantages with respect to accuracy, speed, size, broad and uniform spectral sensitivity, and calibration. I will discuss our recent research and development and plans for the next few years.
